About Patrick Best
Patrick Best was born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Pittston Area Senior High School, he attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a B.S. in Public Policy. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, along with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Civil Litigation.
Early in his legal career, Patrick dedicated himself to public service. During law school, he worked with low-income individuals in the University of Pittsburgh Civil Practice Clinic, assisting those who could not afford private attorneys and helping victims of domestic violence pursue Protection from Abuse (PFA) Orders. These experiences solidified his commitment to advocating for those most in need.
After law school, Patrick served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Carmen D. Minora in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, where he honed his skills in judicial decision-making. Moving to Monroe County, he began representing clients in matters of divorce, custody, support, and disability law. Patrick is a partner at ARM Lawyers, where he expanded his practice to include bankruptcy, consumer protection, and tax law, assisting individuals facing financial struggles and abusive debt collection practices – including class action cases and complex litigation.
Serving as a Divorce Hearing Officer in Monroe County from 2015 to 2024, Patrick has resolved or adjudicated approximately 200 cases, gaining valuable insight and experience in managing a court docket, overseeing trials, and most importantly, settling disputes between parties.
He also serves as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecutes consumer protection violations on behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Patrick’s legal expertise is recognized nationwide. He has received accolades for his customer service, including being named a “Top 10 Best Bankruptcy Lawyer in Pennsylvania for Customer Service” by the American Institute of Bankruptcy Attorneys. A frequent speaker and media contributor, he is featured in outlets such as US News & World Report and shares his knowledge through YouTube shows on Social Security Disability, bankruptcy, and tax law. He also serves as Solicitor for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Monroe County Controller’s Office.
Patrick is deeply committed to his community and is a member of numerous local organizations. He serves on the Legal Redress Committee of the Monroe County NAACP, is a member of the Greater Pocono Section of the NCNW, and is active in Elks Lodge 319. Patrick also volunteers on the fundraising team for Monroe County Hospice House. He currently serves as Vice President of the Monroe County Bar Association, having served as a member of the Board of Directors for the last two years.
Patrick lives in Stroud Township with his wife, Monroe County Register of Wills & Recorder of Deeds Kate Best, and their four children. His dedication to both his profession and his community continues to drive his commitment to public service.
